I heard a voice that told me;
It must have been from angel on high,
That a rainbow is a promise.
A promise of hope,
And of peace.
I was crying o'r a sorrow so deep,
It cut to my very soul.
A baby was lost and asleep.
A life not to fruition see,
At least not of earthly domain,
Was taken from thee.
But today God gave me a rainbow,
It's color painted the sky.
To relieve my pain and sorrow,
Turned my tears of sorrow to joy.
A guarantee from God's own hand,
To my heart.
A promise,
Unspoken it's true,
It speaks with power greater then words,
Of a love ever true.
A promise that is mine,
And mine to keep.
So, whenever I now see a rainbow
And all it's beauty behold.
I cannot but think of that promise,
For it's the real treasure dear to hold,
As it's worth's weight is more precious then gold.
