How Much My
Mother Wanted Me

When it was known
My birth was imminent
My mom had to decide

She was alone
And on her own
Just a child herself inside

Committed to take
The higher road
My life not to deny

Before I was born
There was a plan
Adoption was the design

But when I was born
The plan was changed
As my mom had changed her mind

She now had to fight
To get me back
For to hold me in her arms

Thank God her original prayers
Went unanswered
For I may have never known

How much my mother wanted me
To stay
Her very own.
